At the end of March 2020, Singapore Airlines announced the cancellation of the first phase of flights. At that time, the airline said it had cut 96 percent of its scheduled flights due to the coronavirus.

Then, Singapore Airlines extended the flight cancellation period until the end of June 2020.

The sharp decline in passenger traffic at the end of the fourth quarter of 2019 resulted in a drop in revenue. Singapore Airlines reported revenue dropped 22 percent over the same period the previous year.

Singapore Airlines also said, there was no clarity about the time to recover the demand for air transportation. However, there are some signs of crisis reduction related to coronavirus.

Although demand for commercial flights has reached its lowest level, Singapore Airlines said air cargo demand is likely to be strong, which will maintain cargo revenue in the short term.

In addition, Singapore Airlines is also exploring business opportunities for cargo flights. (*)
