Morgan Stanley: Indonesia is the Country with the Fastest Economic Recovery after China

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Morgan Stanley, put Indonesia in the category of Asian group countries outside Japan (AxJ) which has the potential to experience the second-fastest economic recovery. Besides Indonesia, there are also countries of the Philippines, Korea, Taiwan, and India. 

"These countries can regain their economic prosperity as before Covid-19 in the fourth quarter-2020 and in the first quarter of 2021," Morgan Stanley said in research entitled "Asia Economic Mid-Year Outlook", as reported by Kontan.co.id, Monday (6/22/2020).

Meanwhile, the country that ranks first in the fastest economic recovery is China. 

"China is indeed the first country affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, but it will also be the first country to get out of Covid-19 shackles. The Chinese economy is predicted to recover before Covid-19 in the third quarter-2020.

Meanwhile, the countries in the third rank group are Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, and Hong Kong. These countries are predicted to return to their economies before Covid-19 in the second quarter of 2021.

Morgan Stanley revealed three things that could affect the speed of economic recovery in countries. 

First, how big is the impact of the dynamics of global economic growth on the structure of the country's economic growth? Second, the effectiveness of responses issued by institutions to withstand the deeper negative effects of Covid-19.

"This includes how the effectiveness of the country's response in maintaining domestic demand," he explained.

The last, easing or availability of space for policies that will be needed at any time in dealing with the challenges of Covid-19. (*)
