BMKG Predicts High Waves Reach 1 Meter in these 3 Areas, Weather Conditions Predicted Cloudy
High wave conditions in the waters of Tanjungpinang, Bintan and Lingga Regency are predicted to reach 1 meter. Here are the details.
TRIBUNBATAM.id - High wave conditions in the waters of Tanjungpinang, Bintan and Lingga Regency are predicted to reach 1 meter.
The Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Department (BMKG) Batam, the Hang Nadim Meteorological Station, notes that high waves in Batam City, Natuna Regency and Anambas Islands Regency have the potential to reach 0.8 meters.
Meanwhile, air temperatures in the Riau Islands province, in general, range from 23 to 33 degrees Celsius, with an average wind speed of 2 to 25 kilometers per hour and humidity of 65 to 97 percent.
"In general, today's weather conditions on Thursday (07/26) in Riau Islands are predicted to be cloudy, but there is still the potential for local rainfall with mild to moderate intensity in the morning, afternoon and evening," said the Head of BMKG through Forecaster on duty BMKG Batam, Riza Juniarti in a statement received by TribunBatam.id, Thursday (07/16/2020).
He said, this weather condition was caused by air humidity which tended to be low in the Riau Islands which did not support the formation of rain clouds.
Artificial Rain Phase Two in Batam
Artificial rain which was originally planned for one month, starting from 11 June to 11 July 2020, apparently will continue again.
Raw Water Manager, BP Batam Fasling Agency, Hadjad Widagdo, acknowledged that discussions on the second phase of the artificial rain project were underway.

The plan is that the second stage of artificial rain will begin again in the next week.
However, this project will not run for a month, but only for 15 days.
This project was continued in order to increase the reservoir water elevation in Batam City, especially the Duriangkang and Mukakuning reservoirs.
Therefore, the availability of reservoir water must be maintained in order to meet the needs of the people of Batam until next October.
However, according to Hadjad, artificial rain which has been carried out for the past month, has made the reservoir elevation rise significantly.
If accumulated, the increase in water in all reservoirs in the city of Batam can reach 1.5 meters. (Tribunbatam.id/Endra Kaputra)
