Chairman of the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) in the Riau Islands region, Rusdani said, currently there are 109 health workers in Riau Islands who have been exposed to the coronavirus. They include doctors, nurses, midwives, and also non-medical personnel such as administrators to ambulance drivers.
In fact, from this figure, the number of doctors who were exposed was at least 24 people.
However, this does not mean that these health workers do not comply with health standards or health protocols. It is possible that this could be the result of health workers forgetting to change their clothes.
“Most of these health workers work in closed spaces and use air conditioning. It could be that aernol is slow to fall because of the absence of wind and sticks to clothes, hair or so on.
"And it is possible for these health workers to be exposed from their fellow workers, because when treating their patients they have been equipped with PPE starting from level one, two to level three," Rusdani added.
His party prohibits health workers, especially doctors to nurses, who have not yet recovered from carrying out service activities.
"They must be declared completely cured first, then they can return to work," said Rusdani.
"Even if a number of health centers or hospitals are closed or do not open services, it does not mean that there are not enough health workers in Riau Islands. This is done to sterilize these health locations so that the number of infections does not continue to increase," said Rusdani. (*)
