TRIBUNBATAM.id - The construction of Wastewater Treatment Plant (IPAL) by BP Batam is an accurate strategy for preserving clean water in the Batam City reservoir.

The waste water treatment plant (WWTP) building of the BP Batam IPAL is currently almost completed in the Bengkong Sadai area.

Meanwhile, thousands of BP Batam's IPAL piping networks have also been planted around the Batam Center residential area.

Apart from being an alternative source of new raw water in Batam City, the construction of IPALs can also prevent household waste contamination in a number of Batam City reservoirs

Wastewater Treatment Manager, BU Fasling BP Batam, Iyus Rusmana, said that so far, wastewater from the Batam Center settlement often flows to the Duriangkang Reservoir location.

"Initially, the wastewater flowed to Duriangkang Dam, if we let it, it could pollute the water," said Iyus, recently.

With the construction of this IPAL, wastewater can be stored in the WWTP, then immediately processed into clean water products and compost.

Although in the DED (Detail Engineering Design), BP Batam seeks to reuse clean water from waste processing that was previously disposed of into the high seas for industrial and household purposes.

"The end result is that there will be clean water about 230 liters per second and compost 18 m² per day," added Iyus. (*)
