Capt. Luther Jansen Officially Serves as Member of the Batam DPRD Replacing Iman Sutiawan

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM -  Capt. Luther Jansen from the Gerindra party, officially served as a member of the Batam DPRD interim replacement (PAW), Wednesday (2/12/2020).

Capt Luther Jansen replaces Iman Sutiawan, Deputy Chairman III of the Batam DPRD who resigned because he participated in the 2020 Kepri Governor and Deputy Governor Election. 

The commissioner of the Batam General Election Commission (KPU), Martius, previously confirmed that there was an agenda for the inauguration of the Batam PAW DPRD member on behalf of Capt Luther Jansen.

He said that the inauguration of Capt. Luther to replace his colleague Iman from the Gerinda Party was procedural. 

The inauguration of Capt Luther was held at the Plenary Meeting of the Plenary Oath of Batam DPRD Members from the Gerindra Faction Remaining Term of Office 2019-2024 at the Batam DPRD Office. 

The plenary meeting was chaired directly by the Chairman of the Batam DPRD, Nuryanto, who was also the guide for pronouncing the pledge. 

The appointment of Capt Luther Jansen as a member of the Batam DPRD is stated in the Decree of interim Governor of the Riau Islands No. 1325 of 2020 concerning the inauguration of the appointment of interim replacement members of the Batam City DPRD for the remaining term of 2019-2024.

He admitted that the pledge was a determination to fight for the aspirations of the people he represented, uphold the Pancasila, uphold the 1945 Constitution and carry out the laws and regulations which had consequences in the form of obligations and responsibilities that had to be carried out by every member of the DPRD.

On that basis, he continued, the Batam Gerindra Party DPC then submitted a letter to the DPRD leadership regarding the PAW proposal for Batam DPRD members on behalf of Iman Sutiawan, because he resigned to participate in the 2020 Riau Islands Governor and Deputy Governor elections. 

Next, an oath was made to Capt Luther Jansen as a substitute for Iman Sutiawan.

After taking the oath, in accordance with Article 112 paragraph (1) of Government Regulation Number 12 it is stated that members of the PAW DPRD become members of the organs of the members they replace.

It is hoped that the Gerindra Party through a letter from the leadership of the Batam DPRD, is expected to immediately propose the inauguration of the appointment of the PAW leadership of the DPRD in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations.

This is because Iman Sutiawan left his position as Deputy Chairman III of the Batam DPRD.
