Meanwhile, the earthquake which was centered in the sea area in Majene Regency was also felt by residents in Polewali Mandar Regency.
The reason is, they're afraid that the building they're occupying will collapse.
"Some residents who had returned home panicked, so they fled again," Sirajuddin told Kompas.com, Wednesday (3/2/2021).
Sirajuddin said that some residents who come from two sub-districts in Majene Regency are still at a number of evacuation points.
"The residents who were most affected by the earthquake on Wednesday afternoon were in Ulumanda and Malunda Districts," he said.
One of the residents in Polewali, Andi said that he and several other residents had left the house when he felt the tremors caused by the earthquake.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department (BMKG) said that the epicenter was 9 kilometers northwest of Majene. The epicenter was 18 kilometers deep.
According to BMKG, this earthquake has no potential for a tsunami.
