TRIBUNBATAM.id, NORTH LOMBOK -- A tectonic earthquake with a magnitude of 4.7 rocked North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, Wednesday (10/20/2021), at around 17:21 WITA. 

According to the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Department (BMKG), the earthquake was located at coordinates 8.18° South Latitude; 116.82° east longitude, or to be precise, located in the sea at a distance of 30 kilometers northwest of Panjang Island, NTB at a depth of 10 kilometers. 

Head of Mataram Geophysics Station, Ardhianto Septiadhi said the type of earthquake was a shallow earthquake. 

"By taking into account the location of the epicenter and the depth of the hypocenter, the earthquake that occurred was a shallow type of earthquake due to the activity of the northern Sumbawa Strait fault," said Ardhianto.

He explained, based on the results of the analysis of the source mechanism, earthquakes have a shear movement mechanism.

The residents who felt the impact of the earthquake were in the North Lombok III MMI area. 

Until now there is no information regarding the impact of damage caused by the earthquake.

According to Ardhianto, the earthquake did not have the potential for a tsunami.
