Police Arrest 3 Perpetrators of Burning Forests in Batam, They Were Requested by Asun

TRIBUNBATAM.id - Three people were arrested by the police in Batam related to a case of forest and land burning (Karhutla) in Batam City.

The three perpetrators were caught when they wanted to burn forest at Bukit Bismilah Galang area, Forest in Galang District and Sekupang Batam area.

Barelang Police Chief AKBP Prasetyo Rachmat Purboyo in Karhutla case exposure at Barelang Police Station, Friday (9/13/2019) afternoon said the perpetrators were told by landowners to open land.

"There are three people we arrested. One is in Sekupang and is being processed by Barelang Police Criminal Investigation Unit. While the other two are being processed by Galang Police Sector," Prasetyo said.

From the results of interim examination, perpetrators arrested in Galang claimed to be paid as much as IDR 600,000 to open land there.

"He is just a worker, they also deliberately set fire to this land. According to them who open the land to be paid IDR 600,000" said Prasetyo explained.

Each of three perpetrators had the initial Ir who was captured in Sekupang, then Ai and OJ were arrested in Galang forest when they were about to set fire.

"The burning was done at night. And they were indeed ordered by someone," he continued.

To Tribunbatam.id, Ai admitted that he was told by a businessman who lives in Batam Center named Asun.

Not only asking to clear land, Asun was also taught how to open land quickly.

"I was told to cut down the wood, then it was collected and then burned," AI said.

Ai herself hopes that police will also be able to catch Asun. According to him Asun should be responsible for all of this.
