NEW RULES! Indonesian Citizens from Overseas Arriving in Batam Must Obtain a Health Check at Port

Passengers from abroad, especially Indonesian Workers (TKI) from Singapore and Malaysia underwent medical examinations at Asrama Haji, Batam Center, Batam City, Riau Islands Province. Unlike the previous pattern, this time the health check was conducted by KKP officer at the port. 

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - The Covid-19 Task Force Handling Team changed the inspection procedures for Indonesian citizens who had just come from abroad, especially Indonesian workers (TKI).

Passengers who arrived from Malaysia and Singapore were no longer collected at Asrama Haji, Batam Center but immediately underwent intensive health checks at Port concerned.

This rule is different compared to last Saturday (28/3/2020) where those who arrived at the international port were first gathered at Asrama Haji to be recorded and checked for their health.

"For today the pattern is no longer recorded at Asrama Haji, but is directly recorded at the port," said Head of Batam City Communication and Information Department as a spokesperson for Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Hazril, Sunday (3/29/2020).

According to him, the passengers will be checked by KKP officers at every port in Batam City.

Some locations such as flats and Asrama Haji have been prepared if there are passengers who must be quarantined by KKP.

"But if someone is sent home, they are directed to conduct an independent quarantine, but remain under supervision," he said.

He admitted, especially migrant workers who were repatriated from Malaysia mostly did not go through the entrance of Batam.

But also through the entrance of Karimun and Tanjungpinang.

"Passing through Batam are Indonesian citizens who previously visited Singapore and Malaysia. There were also some who worked there but were not part of the migrant workers who were sent back by Governments of two countries," he said.

A number of passengers or Indonesian Workers (TKI) who arrived in Batam from Singapore and Malaysia before, were taken to the Asrama Haji for data collection from the beginning to the end of ferry arrival or departure.

This was revealed by Head of Batam City Communication and Information Department as a spokesperson for Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Hazril.

"We started from last Saturday," Hazril said, Sunday (3/29/2020).

Not only data collection, at Asrama Haji Building the medical team is ready to check the health of each visitor.

However, Batam residents are welcome to return home and be asked to do self-isolation.

"Passengers who are transiting that day will also travel to their place of origin and will be contacted from their area of ​​origin to coordinate their monitoring," he said.

Meanwhile, continued Hazril, if there were passengers who were in transit but were still waiting for their departure it would be accommodated at Asrama Haji.

While later going to the area of ​​origin will also be coordinated monitoring with the area of ​​origin.

"This activity will continue every day, starting from the Port to Asrama Haji," he said.

He added Batam Task Force Team prepared an emergency call or call center 112 if they wanted to report.

Health workers immediately follow up, even at dawn.

"The total number of Indonesian citizens arriving from Malaysia and Singapore on Saturday 28 March 2020 in Batam City through Batam Center International Harbor and Harbourbay International Port totaled 1,372 people," Hazril said.

As for the details, a total of 50 Indonesian citizens from Singapore came to Batam.

Through the Port of Batam Center as many as 40 people and Harbor Bay Harbor as many as 10 people.

While total Indonesian citizens from Malaysia were 1,322 people.

Through the Batam Center Harbor as many as 1,103 people and Harborbay Harbor as many as 219 people.

Indonesian Citizens staying at Asrama Haji numbered 16 people.
