BMKG Talk About Artificial Rain in Batam to Singapore: There is New Cloud Provoke

TRIBUNBATAM.id, BATAM - Lately, Batam and surrounding areas have been poured with moderate to high intensity rain.

As a result, some areas in Batam experienced flooding.

The rain that is often flushed Batam City is believed to be due to artificial rain.

"Today there is news that this rain is BP Batam's artificial rain. We are also confused. If it is artificial rain, why is it in Tanjungpinang, Medan, Karimun and some others there is rain. BP Batam is great for this rain," said a Batam resident, Mangatur Simbolon, Tuesday (6/23/2020) afternoon.

A number of Batam City people still find it difficult to distinguish between artificial rain and natural rain.

They also still doubt the truth of the information. The resident said, it made more sense if the dry season then suddenly there was rain.

"But the last month of heavy rain was really flushed this city, especially in the morning," said Hotman, another resident who happened to sit at the same time when asked for response from Tribun.

Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) also spoke about this artificial rain.

Head of Section (Kasi) BMKG Data and Information Meteorological Station Class I Hang Nadim Batam Suratman explained, rain is made by physical processes.

This artificial rain is made by humans with the technique of adding rainfall.

How to make this rain is by seeding a cloud or known as cloud seeding.

Cloud seeding makes the clouds clot and in the seedlings so that it will give effect in the form of rain.

"For example, in the sky above Duriankang Dam surface there is a cloud of low clouds. Well, in this condition a substance is injected. So, the cloud drops into liquid water called rain. And this condition too, is effective for only one hour. Now for clouds that "High salt liquid is used. So artificial rain is not all over Batam. But there is only a certain point with more clouds," explained Suratman.

He requested that the community not be fooled by the issue of artificial rain. Because Suratman said, the effects of this rain must have been flooded.

There must be no title of artificial rain and then there is flood, which is blamed is people inviting artificial rain.

"So it's not like that. There is a new cloud lured. Also it has nothing to do with the rain handler. Because artificial rain is scientific physics. So the public knows too. Do not flood later, then blame by the law of artificial rain. That's not the concept," he said.

He said, this June the rainfall was quite high in Riau Islands. Because he said, the cause was a shift in weather.

The peak of the rain was originally in May. "But shifted to June. Today (Tuesday) the direction of the dominant winds from the South and Southwest to the North. Wind speeds between 5-30 km / h.
