BMKG Warning: All Java Province on Flood Alert

TRIBUNBATAM.id - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) issued an early warning of potential flooding in Java.

All provinces in Java are on flood alert due to the predicted heavy rains.

This early warning was in effect from Thursday (18/2/2021) to Friday (19/2/2021). 

The potential for heavy rain predicted by BMKG in a number of areas in Java is category 6.

In West Java, for example, category 6 heavy rain has the potential to occur in Bekasi City, Bekasi Regency, Bogor City and Depok City. 

In Banten, Kota Tangerang, Kabupaten Tangerang, and Kota Tangerang Selatan also have the potential to experience category 6 heavy rain.

Then in Jakarta, the five administrative city areas of Jakarta have the potential for category 6 heavy rains with flooding as one of the impacts.

Next, 9 cities in Central Java, namely Pemalang, Pekalongan, Batang, Kendal, Pekalongan City, Semarang City, Temanggung, Semarang, and Demak also have the potential to experience heavy rain with the impact of flooding.

Meanwhile, 4 cities in Yogyakarta; Gunung Kidul, Sleman, Bantul, and Yogyakarta City only have the potential for category 4 heavy rain. 

Furthermore, as many as 8 cities in East Java have the potential for heavy rain with the impact of flooding.

The 8 cities include Lumajang, Probolinggo, Jember, Bondowoso, and Banyuwangi, Ponorogo, Trenggalek, and Pacitan.

Apart from the six provinces in Java Island, BMKG also stated that 16 other provinces have flood alert status.

Here are the 22 provinces are in flood standby and alert status:

13. West Kalimantan (alert)

14. Central Kalimantan (alert)

15. East Kalimantan (alert)

16. South Kalimantan (alert)

17. North Sulawesi (alert)

18. Gorontalo (alert)

19. Central Sulawesi (alert)

20. South Sulawesi (alert)

21. Southeast Sulawesi (alert)
