TRIBUNBATAM.id - Transition season is a time of the transition from one season to another.

In Indonesia, transition occurs during the transition from the rainy season to the dry season or vice versa, the transition of the dry season to the rainy season.

According to the Meteorology and Geophysics Department  (BMKG), the forecast for the 2019 rainy season begins in October for several Season Zones (ZOM).

This condition indicates that the transition period is happening.

The change of seasons causes the extreme changes in temperature and humidity.

If the condition of the body is not fit, a person tends to be at risk of exposure to diseases, both due to viral, bacterial, or fungal infections.

These conditions can cause several diseases that are often experienced during the transition period.

These following are the diseases: 

1. Flu

Based on research published in the Journal of Virology, American Society for Microbiology, flu is closely related to humidity and temperature.

Therefore, there is an increase in the height of flu sufferers during the transition period due to extreme changes in temperature and humidity.

The flu is caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat and lungs.

The spread of this virus occurs when people suffer from cough and flu, sneeze or talk, and transmit the virus through the air.

The virus has the potential to enter through the mouth or nose of the people nearby. 

Flu symptoms can includes of:

  • High fever that suddenly appeared
  • Cough headaches (usually dry)
  • Shivering
  • Sore throat
  • Nasal congestion and runny nose
  • Fatigue
  • Stomach symptoms such as nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. These symptoms are more common in children than adults
